smileyWelcome to Year 2smiley

The staff in year 2 are Miss Royall, Mrs Birchall and Mrs Lyons.

During this half term we are learning about the Great fire of London.

Homework will be given out on a Wednesday and must be returned on a Wednesday.Your child will also be given new spellings on a Friday to learn for a test the following Friday. As part of their homework you child is expected to practise the 2s,5s,10s and 3s timestables.

This half term our PE lessons are on Monday and Friday. Your child must have their PE kit in school and earrings must be removed.

You must listen to your child read at least 3 times a week and sign their reading dairy.

Launch Day - The Great Fire of London

To introduce our new topic 'the Great Fire of London ', we followed a recipe to bake bread like Thomas Farrinor would have done in Pudding Lane bakery.

We tried carrying and throwing buckets of water to put the fire out.

The children made boats using a variety of materials and reinacted escaping the fire in a boat on the river Thames.

STEM Week

During STEM week we took part in a competition to work in groups to make the tallest tower out of spategetti and marshmallows.

We also had the fantasic opportunity to go inside a star dome to learn about space, planets, rockets and more.

We also enjoyed experimenting to make a lava lamp.
